Can someone help me out on an repair estimate?

I had a mechanic recommended to me quote a Replacement of the timing belt system/components (108,00 miles on car) and replacing a leaking cover gasket valve at a total of $1,250. Car is an 2007 A4 2.0T wagon.

Thoughts? Money is tight in our household these days...

 

Seems fairly reasonable to me.

 

seems to be expensive, why not get the parts from a online auto parts shop and perform a DIY.

 

depends on where you are, i did it myself cost me about 380 for parts, got quotes for $250 on labor.

its not that hard to do yourself it takes bout a day tho.
