Timing belt help in colorado
I was wondering if there were any members that could give me a day's help to exchange my timing belt for some cash and a case of beer in a heated, big garage. I'm a student at CU and I was wondering if anyone lived around Littleton or not that could lend a hand. I have a big garage at my mom's house in Littleton. I have worked on AMC cars and Fox body mustangs with my dad since I was a kid but he lives in Texas so it is a bit of drive and I don't know much about foreign cars to tell you the truth. If anyone could help me out who knows their way around Audis it would be greatly appreciated. My audis at 108k and I dont want to push the belt. I could also drive somewhere if someone could help me. Thanks

Its not that bad of a job to do -- doing mine was the first real work I did on mine, all my prior experience is with AMC era Jeeps and older Jags, its not too bad if you follow the directions and just keep track of what came from where. I ended up having to kind of improvise as most of the directions out there are for B5's and I have a B6. Just work slowly and carefully and its no big deal.
yo, i could help you out with it, i just did mine in the driveway 3 weeks ago, its a 1.8t but still it should not be bad, the hardest part is pulling hte front end off. i'm on 29th and Moorhead just behind Wendy's
Alright.. cool thanks man. It will probably be a couple weeks cause I need to get a day off of work. You have any thoughts on which kit I should get from ECS for the job?
the ECS kits are more expensive. get the one from purems http://www.purems.com/products/product.php/II=1151 just make sure to get the full kit. its in a little drop down selection and adds 86 bucks to the price
A little late to the topic, but curious if all went well with the new belt job... If not, let me know, I'd be glad to help - as long as a beer or two can be had during the process..
By the way - the belt can be changed with the front end on the car... I just did a complete valve job on my 98 A6 with the bumper on, just removed the top half of the radiator (left bottom in tact) and pulled it toward the front of the car. Gives about 6 in. x 2 ft. of space to work through. Saves a couple hours for a first-timer. It's a little difficult to work with the crank pulley then [:@], but it worked out well for me. I also have the cam alignment tool for the 30-valve V6 and quite a few repair manuals if anybody needs a hand in the future.
