Default Timing belt ruptured Please help!!!

Hi guys, was driving my 2001 A4 Quatro 1.8 ltr Turbo, about 30 mph, when my timing belt broke, I pulled over and oil began pouring from somewhere, dang! Before I noticed the oil leak, I turned it over a few times, dang I know!

Got it towed to the shop, the mech, says let's change the belt, water pump, etc, and it should be fine, that the oil leak is probably the "top seal"???

Others say I need a new head, valves, etc? What steps should I take to keep the bill as minimal as possible??? please help!

sell the parts off the car.... if you snapped the belt and tried to crank it.... your head is toast.... so it is time for a new head

the cheapest thing you can do is grab a wrench and source a new head

Thx Turbo! So any idea what the timing belt and head job would cost? My mech says around 1600 bucks? Also, would it be more cost effective to but a new head or rework the old one?

it all depends on how badly damaged the head might be, you might have to get one....

might be cheaper to get a head and just slap it on..... but 1500 is a good ballpark
