Default tint vs. speakers

what does everybody think. I was given a gift certificate to a certain garage and I was wondering whether I should put it toward tint or go for a speaker system. I wouldn't buy anything else from this place because, as good a work as they do, the charge way too much. Also, I know the tint and subs/speakers cost much different, but I was just wondering what you all thought.

Well First off the question is how much do you have to spend? If you don't have the money to do it right with the speakers you might as well go with the tint...The tint will enhance the beauty of your car and sure enough you prolly have enough to cover those costs...However if you came up on a generous sum of money for your gift then i'd say invest in replacing your stock speakers with new ones...When you have the money to upgrade your headunit and get amps then I would worry about the subwoofers etc. A proper system set up can be quite costly and unless you have it to do right now you might want to go with the project that is more cost efficient (Tinted windows) But again, it all depends on how much you have to spend...

Depends on how you wanna look & how you much you love your tunes. I rarely put my radio or music on so I don't have a need for speakers & when I do, the stock ones are more than sufficient. I love tint cos it makes your car look sleek. Thats just my 4 cents.

I'd go for the tint myself.

dont think u realize how much speakers actually do cost... for instance.. i just put a sub and 2 rear-deck speakers in. The actual speakers and sub werent bad. sub was 240, speakers were 90. But lets count the rest shall we. Amp (for atleast the speakers and sub... although u might want a seperate amp for your sub)... u would need an amp because the stock receiver (radio) is working at a 2ohm output, so your sound would be crap. That another 300 right there ATLEAST. Then wiring which is another 100-120 for alllll the correct wiring (you DO NOT want crap wiring).... then installation... which is like another 150. So 300+150+250+100 = 800 bucks for 3 speakers.

So there ya go... go with the tints..... unless u really really have your mind set on new speakers. I suggest you just buy a sub if your gonna do it.. the audi speakers are great. If you want a little boom... do what i did. Buy the Kenwood 10 inch enclosed subwoofer with attatched 200w amp (Its at BestBuy). It works like a dream in our little a4's. Lots of power.. and if you want more.. than just pull the backseats down. its 250 with tax. I suggest buying the warranty. Then have that garage install it for you (they have to run the wire to power). You might even be able to convince them to do both the tint and this sweet sub. You can always return the sub if your dissapointed (but i doubt you will be).

sh*t son what kinda stereo wiring are you buying? sold gold? 4 gauge(which is way more then you need anyways) is like 2$ a foot tops. And remote wire maybe 2$ tops for the whole thing. And 150$ install? If best buy paid ME 150$ I still wouldn't let that place touch my car!

I paid 120 for a pro install on my system and it was worth it (at an audio shop). I have a custom face plate to fit a DIN unit as well as amp and sub in back. It took about 4 hours to install, I mean the back seats where entirely out of the car at some points, so I think it was worth it. I'd go with pro install on that, even Best Buy.

well i used rockford punch monster wire for all of it. maybe 60 percent of the quality comes from the wiring itself. So yeah i got 8 gauge wiring for everything. You also need rca wire (monster version)... and yeah. Was a hefty load. My mistake.. i ddint get it installed in bestbuy.. im mixing things up. I got it installed by a friend at my audi dealership... i was gonna get bestbuy to install the sub itself.. but instead i did that. WOOPS... heh.

If you are going to get a sub...the kenwood might be nice but the best two subs on the market for your money are the 12 inch alpine type R sub and the 12 inch Kicker solo baric L7...Depends on what kind of sound you are going for....The apline delivers a deep rumbly bass, while the kicker does just as the name says...All you need with the Alpine is a 500 watt amp and you will be in business...The solobaric needs a little more so a 700 watt amp is more sufficient....The Alpine type are is 130 and U can get the solobaric L7 for under 200...But if you are going for SQ you definately need another 4 channel amp for your stock speakers which can get pretty expensive...Rule of thumb..The more channels the more money....Tell us what you decide...
