the tip chip is awesome from what i've heard. reduces shift time from 1 second to .2 seconds. shaving 80% off your shift times is pretty damn significant....for the one who has a cvt..the bad news is, i don't believe the tip chip will work for you...the worse news is, that cvt tranny is pretty weak and adding any significant hp is very risky (giac has a cvt-specific ecu chip that is pretty much the standard chip, but with 1/2 the torque )

I've sorta started looking around at chips, I might make that investment next summer. Anyways....here's my current list of ECU's that for my B5 2.8 tiptronic.

-Greedspeed - 6 HP gain for $180
-Wetterauer (from Autobraun) - 17 HP gain for $475
-GIAC - gotta call for price and specs...anyone know?...but they sell a plug-in controller for an additional $150 to change your ECU from stock, sport, 100 octane race modes. Pretty Hot, do they all come with those?
-Is there such a thing as a GT2X chip?

I dunno if the Tip chip is worth it, but I'd def. be interested to try it out. Not sure if the cost is worth the shorter throw.

Lemme know if I'm off on any of this...

i would assume the tipchip is worth it, .2 seconds is freakin' quick shift times. that and an engine chip and you should be good :] i've never driven a GIAC tipchipped tiptronic b5 though

The GIAC tip chip works fantastic, when you shift, you can got redline, then shift. If you don't have the chip, you have to shift before red because the rpm's will continue for a second or more. It's worth it on the 2.8!

ORIGINAL: AUDI05

when im driveing around, haha, yes I take my took off .... but when Im racing I either run red line

but since i have the CVT, if i floor mine all the way, and then past this point of depresion that most dont know about, the CVT keeps the rpms at 6 grand and its accelerates darn quick, but i need to test, and see which way is faster

but i wan to chip my car and get the tiptronic chip so it shifts faster

wait! does a tip chip work for CVT's?
[:'(]
No . Your car is the least mod friendly A4 you can get. Tip chip for CVT ? A CVT is not a tiptronic. Its a CVT.

I just keep mine in D when I'm in bad traffic. Otherwise I'm always in Tiptronic mode.

This TipChip sounds promising, though. .2 second shift time? [sm=smiley16.gif]

Is it possible to mix n match? like get an APR chip and then a GIAC tipchip? I was thinking of gettin the GIAC ecu chip but i guess the flashloader that they offer which is need for upgrades isn't compatible with my 1999.5 ...or am i wrong? I seriosly hope i am and somebody would wanna correct me
