Default Tiptronic Transmission

I have heard this transmission breaks easy with a certain amount of HP. Is this true?, and what is the max hp you can put on it?

They are a bit weak, if you put more than 250 through them i think you'll toast it.

Buy a manual instead, the tip cant handle big power.

How much HP are you thinking of pushing through it? If you go over 250, your trans will get smoked for sure. You can bullet-proof it for around $800--what Ive been told, I have not done this myself--but do you really want to invest that kind of money in a TIP car anyways? Keep the HP below 250, enjoy your ringer and if you want to build something fast, buy manual trans.

Screw that though. Lots of people have complaints after beefing up the tip tranny. It might make your trany bullet proof, but driveability goes down the toilet, and its still an automatic. I cant understand why someone would want big power with an automatic.
