sounds like a notorious wheel bearing, lift up the car and jiggle the wheels if you get play its a wheel bearing, should be under warrenty, but then again ive never had a car that had a warrenty.

So I have a question. If the wheel bearing is bad, when turning right or left while driving, is the noise supposed to pretty much disappear? Or should it change a little in pitch?

Also to note, the tires that came with my A4 are Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. I took a look through tirerack's reviews on it and a few people have commented about these tires getting noisy after being used awhile. (Although quiet when initially installed and driven.)

At this point I'm leaning more towards the tire noise being a tire issue not wheel bearing. Although it is tough to try and isolate without having a second set of tires to test with. Also one of these days I'll probably get a jack to lift up the car and see if the wheels jiggle.

usually if its a wheel bearing, it will be noisy when turning one direction, and go away when turning in the other direction. And you'll hear a constant sound while driving straight.

Hello I was just on here looking for the same answer as you.I have 4 Audi"s two 2002 a4 with 1.8 and two 2007 a4 mine has the 2.0 and my wife's has the 3.2 we both noticed the noise. The 2002 ones are both quite. I no it's not the tires, it may be a wheel bearing but I've had those go and the sound the same. But with a bad wheel bearing you usually can make the sound louder or quieter when you turn the wheel.Im wondering if it may be the front differential or for the lack of a better word the "transfer case".well I'll get to the bottom of it hopefully and let you no.

I've experience with B7 had that issue.. I wanna say tires totally bad. They were balanced just fine, as there were no vibrations. Some tires just develop noises. Thought the seller confirmed it will be comfortable to use but got an horrible scenario at reality! !!
