Tranny Oil Change Writeup
hey guys, just finished changin my tranny oil.
getting the drain plug out was a breeze with the germanautoparts.com drain plug and fill plug tool seen here
only 25 buks and it does the tranny, and oil pan plugs.
the only pita was getting the fill plug off, i had to bust out my monster wrench to get enough torque to get that beast broken. That was when i realized that i was a proballly a good idea to change the oil because it has been in there forever.
the soap that i use to take a shower comes in a bottle that has a hand pump on it, and it holds a good quart and a half of soap (thanks to costco), so i just poured all the soap out, rinsed it so ALL the soap was out, let it dry, and it worked perfecly, i just put the nozzle into the drain plug and began pumping. it took me maby 15 minz to get all 3 quarts in there
The shifts are like butter now, i cant feel any metal to metal contact within the gears, and the syncs are maching up like crazy, downshifting from 3 to 2 is almost as fast as upshifting from 2 to 3, which is awsome.
i used Coastal 75 w90, i was too cheap to buy the mobil 1 stuff. I was at D1 last weekend and saw some 75 w90 full synthetic by this company called Torco for 12 buks a quart!! It was meant for the D1 cars that run a good 500 hp and are shifting like crazy all during thier runs. i can only imagine how smooth the shifts would be if i had baught that stuff.
anyway, i highly reccomend this to anybody who drives a 5 speed. it makes the shifts way more fun, and easy, and it seems like when you are rolling in neutral or somthing, the oil makes you roll much faster.
