Some of the guys on here seem to have 2.8 Transmission on their 1.8T's - does anyone know what transmissions will fit the 1.8 T Quattro and whether they are straight swaps?

I currently have 5 speed trans. and want 6 speed with longer gearing.

teh 2.8 trans will fit on to a 1.8T not sure if it is direct but it will work. BUt teh 2.8 is a 5 spd not 6 spd. They 6 spd would be the s4 tranny.

 

Cheers. Does anyone know what is involved in fitting the S4 gearbox to an A4 Quattro? I am really interested in getting this done but it depends on the extent of customisation that is needed.

You do know longer gears will result in a slower car.

A 6 speed should have shorter gears because it has that extra gear to compensate.

You should find out the ratios of each trans and pick the best suited, not because it has an extra gear.

 

Sorry for the delay - been away.

I am running 330BHP so need to do something with the gears otherwise I find I an hitting high revs when I don't need to - need to kow what would fit the standard setup.

Would welcome any thoughts.

Looking to do the same.....Except I have a tip, is the exchange fairly easy? What other tranny's would be suitable with shorter gears and stamina? Just get one from the junk yard? I bought auto and i really miss stick.....

 

Did you guys ever thought of putting a RS2 tranny in a 1.8T?
6 speed,brutal precision,long gearing and the best part- it fits

 

the rs2 tranny bolts right up?
