Default transmission oil compatibility anyone know?

in researching different post I am a little unclear on what transmission fluid can be used. Some are saying mercV is compatable, others quakerstate multi purpose atv, also amsoil. yet I have also read about one who used mercV and had some slipping issues shortly thereafter. Its for a 2000 a4 1.8T auto. any reliable info? I am ready to buy oil for the change, today if possible. I believe it needs to be compatible with esso egl 71141.or has anyone seen any good post I may have missed?

Just use dealer fluid. Transmissions usually take 4.5 - 5 liters.
