My wife brought her 98 A4 1.8t in for emissions check. It failed because the check engine light was on. They don't even do a tailpipe
check. Anyway the fault code was P0118 Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input. Can anyone tell me what sensor this might
be. I change the Blue coolant sensor about 2 years ago.

 

It may need changing again.

 

As stated above, it may need to be replaced again or you may have a wiring issue. Is it a hard fault or sporadic? If its sporadic i would just clear it and retest.

 

It's sporatic it's on for a week or two then it goes away. I was wondering if there is another sensor.

well if the only reason it failed is because the light was on then clear it drive over there and pass then if it proves to be more hassle then its worth forget it.

go to autozone. tell them you need a diagnostic, the same codewill show up on their machine and just order the new part its 7.99$
