I was checking Wikipedia's ad on Audi A4's and it claims that starting in late 2000 they began to build them on a B6 platform.

Show me where it says that.

It claims that in late 2000, Audi A4's were made on a early form of a B6 platform. It claims that it wasn't until 2002 when styling went along with the move to the B6 platform.

When I hear "platform" I think of "chasis and suspension." Im pretty sure all the chasis and suspension parts for 00/01 are interchangeablewith97-99 B5's. So I dunno about that.
I thought platform was the shape of the internal frame along with what you mentioned.
RE: Is it true that in 2000, B5's were made on a B6 platform?
well they usually put out the car as the year after it really is. like in 2007 they sell cars as 2008 model.
so maybe late 2000 could have been really the earliest version of the B6 which was named the 2002 model. so maybe they really stretched it.
