Default Trunk got keyed...UPDATED W/ PICS

So I've got a freakin 4-foot long key scratch near the lip of my trunk. It starts on the passenger side, then runs right through my ring emblem!! I can catch my fingernail on half of it, so it's gotta get fixed. I talked to a local scratch repair place, they quoted me $175 to fix and repaint. GRRRRRRR....

Anyways, the ring emblem has to come off for him to fix it...so the question is, how to remove and restick the rings once he's done. I debadged my other emblems which are held on by that foamy adhesive stuff, but I looked around and have read they're held on by clips which are a royal PITA to deal with. Is it possible to remove them without Fing them up, or do I have to buy a new one? Anyone done this? Bentframe, you did when you painted your rings, right?

Thanks....

EDIT: Some pictures....it's deepest on the passenger side, then extends a little bit past the rings...so perhaps not the full 4-feet that I orginally claimed :-) Sorry if the pics are a little huge...

first off, that really sucks man. All 4 cars I have ever owned have been keyed. Stupid immature high school kids get all jealous and omgoodness it makes me so mad. Sorry to hear...

as far as the rings, if they are fixing the key mark, than im sure any mark you leave by trying to take the rings off, it will get fixed in the process.

Sorry for the conspicous lack of pics, was gonna use my roommate's camera, and he just bounced out. I'll get some up later....

The rings are just the adhesive stuff? Well thats good, wasn't sure if I'd have to take out the liner and whatnot. So the next logical questions...how to I remount them? double sided tape is pretty thick, and the rings are real thin to cutout. Any recommendations on a crazy-glue substance that won't eat my paint? Crap, recentering these will be annoying too...

SIDE NOTE: Anyone watching F1 at Watkins Glen on ABC? I was gonna go watch it, but it's been raining all day and didn't want to deal with it....looks fun though, kinda wish I went.
