Default springs...

hey everyone,

i have an '01 1.8t quattro, i want to lower it, but don't want anything too crazy and don't need a race suspension or anything. so, my question is: do i just need springs, which are about $230, or do i need to purchase springs and shocks that run about $730.

these prices are from awe tuning. anybody use them before. they were recommended by my mechanic. let me know. thanks.

Yes do shocks and springs unless you want to blow your stock shocks and have to buy new ones later anyway.

So just out of curiousity fellas,

I have a pair of springs for my 2.8 quattro that I'd like to install.
Do I need specific shocks for the springs or do I just need a new pair of shocks?
(Eibach Pro Springs, btw). I too really don't want to shell out an extra 500 for shocks if I don't have to.

You have to shell out that 500 bucks. Get a nice set of Bilstein's or something along those lines.

when people think of getting an aftermarket suspension, they automatically know they have to get springs/shocks, or coilovers. Just getting springs, or just getting shocks should never really enter your mind. Suspension is a very important part on a car and by no means should it be approached in a half-*** manner. An aftermarket suspension setup consists of springs and shocks. Nobody that has an Audi will get away with lowering there car for less than $650. Its like building a motor and not installing the intake and exhaust... it can be done, but who would??

doesn't it depends how low you go?
shocks will blow eventually no matter if you lower it or not. just the matter of time.
IMO, i just lowered my car last week, 1.2" eibach pro-kit....i didn't even need to cut bumpstops, its riding fine.

Uh yeah i guess but your shocks will last about 25x longer if you run stock w/stock and aftermarket w/aftermarket.

And you really should get shocks too. 1.2" is enough to blow your stock shocks within 6 months-1year. Its unsafe too.
