It will definitely take a lot of work but if you do it you will earn my respect.

 

You can do it but for the $ you might as well sell the car and buy the S4.

 

Your compression is around 10.6 but thats not the promblem. The promblem is the weak internals. You could run a turbo at say 5psi all day long no probs but much higher around the 10psi mark and you wont be to happy after a while. If you got the money . rip the block part , put some forgd internals and go insane and boost what ever you want with aht ever turbo.

 

ya if i were to construct a turbo kit on it, i probably wouldnt boost more than three until i ripped the block apart, i just was wondering about it.

 

2 guys have done it that i know of. both were one-off setups and they both ran about 8 psi and had similar gains as thePES guys but ended up spending a lot more

the 96 2.8s are 12v's, no supercharging there. so....

your options 1) keep it stock 2) drop $10,000 on a custom turbo set up 3) use that money to buy an S4

 

There's a guy with a rear mount turbo on a 12v. He's only pushing 2psi right now but he says there's no issues - except tuning.

 

what gains could you possibly get from a rear mountturbo that boosts 2 psi?? Without adjustments to fuel and timing, you seriously might as well be using the Typhoon Supercharger.

 

Not saying he saw any gains but it is being done...
