Default Turbo in 2.8l A4?

Is it possible to put a turbo or twin turbo in a 1998 2.8l A4 and if so do you have any suggestions for one.

it would be easier, cheaper, and much better to just sell your 2.8 and get a 1.8T.

r u asking if there is a kit made to turbo a 2.8? the answer is no, just SC. but u could turbo charge it... you can do anything. but if u did make a custom turbo ,u would have to run it at like 6 psi unless u wanted to blow ur engine. This would make it almost worthless and give u like 20 hp

common asked question, especially latley. the only way its possible is if you have deep pockets and have an eminse ammount of knowledge about your engine.

For some reason alot of guys turbo V6 Passats. Not really sure why this hasn't rubbed off on 2.8 A4's yet. Maybe it's cuz the VW guys saved so much by buying VW vs. Audi they could afford to dump the extra $$$ into the engine. HAHA. Very cool though, but I'd rather SC.

If I didn't have a 96, I would attempt this.

It's really not that hard, it's parts that are semi-expensive and tuning/fuel management that is really expensive if you have someone else do it. I can weld well enough to make my own manifolds, DP's, exhuast and IC piping. A roundabout cost for a cheaper setup with cheaper PARTS (some used and rebuilt, others new) would be somewhere in the vicinity of 1800 for the turbos, piping custom exhaust and IC. Then you have to figure in fuel and fuel management. Like he said, cheaper then a PES SC kit, but more work.

He didn't do it the way I would have because if I was already tearing the engine apart, some lower comp pistons, rod strengthening and at least some devcon block filling would be in store. If I was willing to put that much money and time into it, I might as well go a step further and upgrade the top end as wellm making it more expensive then a PES kit, but more performance oriented.

I also would use T3's just to make it more versatile and upgradeable as well as cheaper. A couple 42/48's should be sufficient but I'd have to do more research before setting something like that in stone.

And I'd much rather have a TT 2.8 a4 opposed to an SC'd one. That's just me though

The 2.8 the vw's turbo is a completly different motor than the 2.8 in your car.

It's diffferent because I have a 96 and a 12V...yes. It's horizonally mounted because it's FWD, yes.

Same as the FWD 30V A4's, yup.

Correct me if I'm wrong, with some solid proof, please.
