Turbo and air filter???

Default Turbo and air filter???

First of all I have an 99.5 A4 1.8T and I dont know where the turbo is or even how it looks like.. can u guys tell me or even better if somebody has a pic of a stock trubo mounted or not ill appreciated... also about the air filter that goes in the bottom (i dont know if thats what u call it but is in the drivers side under the head lights) how often does it need to get replaced????? thanks guys 4 ur help

ok the turbo is on the papssanger side as well as the intake. what are you talking about the drives side under the headlight??

ok is a kind of silver looking box im guessing it has some kind of a filter inside or what is it???? it looks like a big cheese shredder

the turbo is low. if oyu are standing loking at the engine from the front of the car, it is on your left. next to the actual engine, between the engineadn the airbox, there should be a gap that goes straight down. your turbo is down there bolted betweent eh cat and the exaust manifold. looking at it, it is hard to spot at first becuase what you see is the exaust side, which is all rusted like the rest of the manifold. you dont see the typical metallic turbo you see in adds. if you look farther back, on the turbo, you can see that part of it. but it isnt huge.

on this image, it is to the left of the VW logo on the engine down in that hole. to the far left, that is your air intake box.

that would be the SMIC(side mount intercooler)

ya, that must be it. its your side mounted intercoole.r cools the air form the turbo for more horsepower. when people get FMIC's theya re talking abotu frount munted intercoolers. jsut do a better job than that.
