If it was a constant problem, numerous people would have to complain about the said problem, and action taken. Car manufacturers don't like losing money and will only recall safety items by law. If this was a very common problem, then enough people would have complained to where Audi would have recalled it.
It's NOT a safety issue, it's not a design flaw, it's just not the most efficient and they can fail. It's not going to suddenly burst, it's not going to cause premature wear, it will hold up as long as it's not leaking and if it is, taken care of properly.
To the original poster, you do realize, the oil isn't going to cool down even 20* before it gets turbo. It does't have a detrimental effect on anything. As for the location, it could have been better, but the car would also cost more from the start, every little piece R&D'd further then needed will jack up the cost of the car even more.
