Default TURBO NOISE?!?!? WHAT DO I DO?

My turbo makes a very weird noise. I take off and as soon as i hit about 4000 rpms , there is completely no power whatsoever. It takes a very long time to hit 60. I notice though after i let off the gas that a loud noise comes from the turbo... Like a metal flapping sound. Kind of like spinning very fast and making a weird noise. It only happens when i let off the gas though and the rpms drop and the sound happens. I can sit in neutral and rev the engine, when i let off the pedal it makes that loud metal spinning noise. What to do!? the car is sooooo slow! , no power and no accelleration past 3500.

thank you , your help is greatly appreciated.

buy a new turbo. yours is done. the shaft that hold the turbine and impeller is broke and probably just flopping around in there. you can take your intake boot off and stick your finger in there (engine off, i hope i didnt have to put that- but just in case) to see for yourself but its probably broken. also make sure the oil lines and ports going to the turbo are not clogged which would cause it to run dry

I had the same problem with my 97 a4. My wastegate was trashed. The shaft that is welded to the flap on the waste gate broke and the flap continued to repeatedly flap back and forth. It sounds like a loose screw or metal ticking noise?
your turbo is shot.
sorry

you can probably find a used replacement K03 turbo for about half that on the forums for sale threads. Alot of people have upgraded their turbos and have K03s laying around

If you are going to have to replace your turbo, might as well just replace it with a K04 (700 dollars). Then save up another 600 and get the proper programming to take advantage of it.

Check ECS tuning, if it is the wastegate controller, I believe they sell them for about 130.
