Default Turbo problem?

Hi there,

When I accelerate hard from 20-70mph the car idles (i.e. doesn't pull) for a few hundred rpms before it starts pulling again. Is that my turbo/my chip causing problems?

I have 80k on my car. It's an 1.8TQMS with a Wett Chip.

Mostly though the car runs great...just a few moments of jumping rpms.

im not sure if im understanding your post correctly but it sounds like normal turbo lag.

Sorry if I was unclear - it seems like a little more turbo lag than I am used to. That's why I was wondering if that was a sign of my timing getting screwed up or if that was a sign of the turbo dying.

what rpm range are you lacking the pull in? it could be a boost leak

do u have a boost gauge? How long has ur car been chipped. Could be the chip or could be the turbo.

Doubt it is the turbo. Possible leak n diverter valve or perhaps the waste gate is triggering. What happens if you start from a stop? Do you get the same lag?

I have heard of wett before but not good things but your problem definetly sounds like a boost leak somewhere do u have a boost gauge ?
