Default Turbo Question.

I have a question regarding the turbo I replaced on my car. I was comparing the new one to the old one. Both ko3. The rod thing that is gold and runs across to one side on the new one was stiff and nice. The one I took out that had to be replaced had a lot of play on that rod thing. I can push and pull it back and forth and there is so much play in it. WTF is that about? Was that why my turbo was blown? Could the old one be repaired so I can one day use it has a back up if my new one goes??

That rod is part of the wastegate on the turbo. It may be able to be rapaired. if not you can seal it of and get an external waste gate.

Was the old turbo making a dentist drill type sound before you replaced it? Or did you just have bad performance?? THe wastegate is supposed to be tight.

Thats what im saying. The new turbo was tight as hell but the old one moved back and forth really loosely and banged around. Should I get that fixed and keep it as a spare or what would you do with it? I was also thinking of repairing it and selling it.
