Default turbo sound in park?

hello...i have a 2006 A4 2.0T with 600 miles... it's one sweet ride...

i just noticed today, when i put the car in park after driving, the engine makes a whistling noise, but it pulsates (so it's not a solid whistle, but like a whistle sound going through a fan)...does that make sense?

I noticed it today because i drove up and parked in my drive way with the window down and heard it...then i got out of the car after putting it in park and confirmed...

any comments would be appreciated...thanks...this is my first turbo so i'm getting used to all of the sounds a turbo engine makes...

When my family got our first 1.8T, I was also surprised at a lot of the strange sounds it makes. In summer especially. It sounds like Darth Vader is trapped under my hood sometimes.

I don't really have an answer for you, but if it was my car I wouldn't be terribly worried. That's me, though.

i have never heard of this...ever. but im sure you are ok, the turbo makes weird noises alot. if it starts soundling like a dentist's drill, and or you dont have boost, then you should worry.

Yeh mine makes a sound like an electric drill slowing down for about 2-3 seconds after i turn off ignition.
Thought it was fan from heater at first but turned off climate totally and it still did it.

before you shut off your engin you are suppost to let your car idel for at least 2 mins to let your turbo cool down that why a lot of people have trouble with there turbos . a turbo timer is the best way to go like me im lazy and i dont w3ant to sit in my car and let i run

thanks for the info...

i had another question about turbo sounds...i'm not sure if this is a turbo sound, but i wanted to ask...

whenever i drive and hit 20mph, i start to hear a high pitched noise...like a faint whistle or like a faint wind coming through the air vents...i continue to hear this noise as long as i press the gas and go above 20 mph...is this "turbo whistle?"

thanks...
