When my front left turn signal burned out a couple of days ago, I got a bit excited because it gave me the excuse to upgrade my lighting. I thought the upgrade to xenons was a bit pricey, so I decided to purchase SilverStar H7 ST for the low and high beams (if I read the chart correctly, I think the high and low beams of the 2002 A4 Halogen headlight housing use the same bulbs) and 3457A ST for the turn signals. I took some pics in the boxes, but I have to put them in tomorrow. I did my best looking through the catalogue/chart they have hanging by the shelf of light bulbs, and I think I found the right ones. Could someone please tell me whether or not these are the right ones? Also, please tell me if there are any negatives of upgrading the lightbulbs of a halogen headlight assembly.

Yeah those are the right ones. No downside to upgrading the halogens, i just did it 2 days ago.

 

does it make a huge difference?

 

At night yeah, much whiter. I went with the PIAA hyperwhite bulbs...like $80 + tax. What year are you...and do you have one or 2 piece headlights? Having projectors helps alot.

 

I have a 2002 A4 1.8T quattro. I think I have one-piece headlights. im not sure about projectors.

 

Do not touch the glass on the bulbs with your fingers. The oils will cause them to break.

 

I did the same thing... SilverStar H7s in my '02 1.8TQ. It makes the lights brighter and whiter. One of these days (when I can find a place that has the SilverStar H11s) I'll do the fogs too.

And yes, the '02 1.8T has 1-piece w/projectors.

 

now, these are just plug and play, right. I don't need ballasts or anything?

 

yep, just put them in there. You would only need ballasts if you were upgrading to xenon
