urban myth about gas stations

RE: urban myth about gas stations
had a seriously crappy tank of "premium" up in kenosha wisconsin. county o and c were the flogging grounds when i had the supercharged integra. five minutes after filling up ~120mph major detnation! fortunately i had installed a boost/timing controller. crancked it up and no more dreadfull noise from up front. was worried at first that things were really f-ed up.
they do change formulas for seasons in some places and gas is not a homogenius product. i have heard of shifty stations getting caught adding water of all things to help the bottom line...got vaporlock?

Hey peeps, I have both the 93oct and 100oct APR S1+ programming so I only use one of the two, but I'm normally not feeling rich enough to spend $8 a gal on 100oct. Only 3 places I've found in NH so far that sell 100oct, Try checking around race tracks/drag strips.

I agree... it is very tough trying to find race gas. For all you NorCal ppl, aside from the Sears Point area in Sonoma and Laguna Seca in Monterey, there is also a gas station in Tracy that specifically advertises "we sell race gas". Anybody else in NorCal knows of any gas stations that sell this stuff?

I am a huge fan of the British television program Top Gear, and somewhat of a fan of the British program Fifth Gear....
last series Fifth gear presenter Tom Bentley did a report about the different brands of gas in 3 different cars...a golf, a sedan (not sure which) and an Sti...I'm not sure which episode though.
The results? Shell gas with V-power actually performed the best with dyno testing.... now i am a skeptical person (im an auditor!!) but that report lead me to start buying shell for my new audi.
Of course, the gas they get across the pond might be completely different, but who knows, it convinced me

One thing I have noticed about shell stations that I have used in the past is that they tend to also be busy. Which is a good thing as far as gas is concerned, less time in the big tanks is good!

A bit different here in Canada. I have both the APR 91 & 93 programs and when running on 91 program I choose Shell for better mileage, about 10-15% than when I use 94 oct from Sunoco for my 93 program. The ethanol boosts the octane but drops the mileage.
(no 93 octane in Canada, jumps from 91 to 94 which is only available at Sunoco)
