Default URGENT HELP

I'm in front of my school library right now in my buddies 1998 A4. Its very cold out right now. When we start the car it turns over but the RPMs drop right away and the car "stalls". We can press the pedel and keep the RPMs at 2k and higher but when we stop accelerating, it stalls. The battery isnt dead obvsiouly, any suggestions??

could be your alternator, one of the cars at our shop just had that problem an the alternator was bad so there was nothing to keep the electronics running after you start it... but it might not be your problem because it happened all of a sudden not slowly

Mine did this when the fuel pump went. Would start, then stall.

Don't do it too often. I think I fried my cat because I tried too often to start it..... At least that is what the dealer said. I have not replaced the cat yet, and I am getting no performance related issues. I only did this because I called my Audi mechanic and he told me to run it for a while (dealer replaced pump under recall, my car is out of warrenty and I have a great mechanic for everything I cannot do and have to pay for.....)
