hey everyone im getting my boost guage installed on monday and i need to know what the vac and boost is that you guys are running. iv already had a vac line break and didnt know it so i deffineatly need the guage. i just wantto know a head of time what the vac/boost is so when i get it in i will know everything is running normal i have a giac chip thanks for the help

 

idle -20
1st boost to 5-7 psi
2nd boost to 15 psi
3rd boost to 17-18
4th boost to 17-18
5th same.

that sound about right? I also have a vac leak (tear in L hose) so these numbers may be a little off.

 

Sounds about right except you should be boosting at least 15psi in 1st gear.

 

ok cool cant wait till it goes in does any one have a stering coloum pod ? are they any likes dislikes about hte pisotion

Well you have apr and we have giac.. Im pretty sure i was boosting closer to 15-17psi before i got the n75 j valve. And please dont turn this into another "whats an n75 valve?" thread... Its been covered a lot, search for it!

 

I thought the turbo didnt really kick in until 2nd and above? I'll have to see whats going on now that i fixed that L hose.

I wouldn't do steering column pod. search for the center vent install. its DIY save some money and looks much better IMO. plus ppl riding shotty will not take their eyes off the boost gauge. chicks are like Whoa! and then you can explain what it does and tell them you did it yourself and then they like you more. jk lol.

The turbo should kick in around 2500 rpms in any gear.
I didnt like the idea of the steering column boost gauge when i saw it on a website.. But arif has it and when i saw it in his audi it doesnt really get in the way of the gauges, i liked it a lot. I still prefer my center vent location. I have the white speedo lights and everything in the center console is red, so i think it blends in better in the vent... Like so:


But thats just because i put the red rubber boot on the light bulb on the inside to make it illuminate red. I guess the steering pod one would look good with white illumination (without the red boot)...

 

I've got a 2-gauge pod mounted on the steering column. I love it because it doesn't block the info screen in the center of the dash, and it looks like it was meant to be there. IMO the vent-mount looks hack.

 

ive always thought the 2 gauge steering pod looks whack.. At least we are both happy with what we have.. Post up some pics since this thread got jacked anyway.
