Vag-com
I recently bought a used 1998 audi a4 and it currently has the abs, airbag and emergency brake light (blinking) on while i'm driving. I read from previous post that i should get a vag-com so i can scan to see if the airbag cables are lose and to identify if the abs & brake light module is broken. My question is how do i know exactly which vag-com device i should get? Can i and should i get it from ebay? Also when i'm in the download section off the ross-tech website, what are the benfits what does bi-com, uni-com and etc mean? How do i identify which device is fo my car? I'm ultra new to all this so any help would be most appreciated!
thanks in advance!

Ummm, there is no "emergency brake light" on the dash.
What is on is your brake light telling you that there is a serious problem with your braking system. Blinking lights are Audis way of telling you that this is urgent.
I would not drive your car until you have had your brakes/ABS fixed. With undiagnosed brake problems your car is a death trap for you, your passengers and others on the road. Check to see if you have brake fluid!!! and have your car flat bedded to a garage to be fixed.
The airbag light is often due to a loose connection under the passenger seat. Check to make sure the connectors under both front seats are tight.

i checked my brake fluid today and its right up to the max. I want to try and fix this problem myself, so is there any other things i should look at that can be causing this problem? Does this issue have anything to do with my abs light on the dash?
Usually means your ABS controller/unit is bad. Its common. You can drive /stop without the ABS unit working properly, you just wont have ABS functionality so keep that in mind. Deffinately get it vagged. As long as your fluid level is correct and there are no visible leaks and the car stops i wouldnt worry about it TOO much. But investigate it with vagcom asap.
Next time you are in the rain/snow, depending on where you live, slam on your brakes on a deserted road and see if your abs kicks in. If not, suspect the ABS control unit. I think you can get them rebuilt for $350-ish.
