I need to get a Vag com...does anyone have this kind? or have any suggestions on which ones to get?

First of all thats is not a VAG-Com taht is an ODBII reader, you really cant do s**t with that go to the Ross tech webcite and get the cable and downlaod the software.

 

dang i gotta spend 230 and hook it up to my laptop? i was hoping there were smaller ones or something and cheaper

 

anyone selling their vagcom cable? thats all it is right just the cable and license?

 

Well you can buy a cable like this one HERE and then purchase the software from Ross-tech for $100. Some mebers have problems with these cables the first one that I ordered didn't work that well then I purchased one from this seller and it works perfect. If all your looking to do is read error codes and clear them, all you need is the cable. You can download software from ross-tech and it will do that for free.

 

Lok around there is software out there that is free that will do almost everything the pay software does, if you have friends with audis get them to go in with u and slpit the cost, boom your all set

what is the advantage of vagcom over the code readers?

 

readers do just that and only that read and erase. vag-com can do that plus you can view your AF ratio, check for missfires, make logs with excell that show's how your car is running and can give you signs that somthing is on its way out or not working as good as it should...the list goes on. check out ross-tech.com for more info on what they can do.
