yeah, good call. I actually went to do it this weekend, but it's impossible to even see the dv from the top, much less replace it. So, I'll have to jack it up, take off the splash guard and replace it that way.

BTW.... are there specific spots for jackstands under the A4? (I know where to use the OEM jack, but just wasn't sure if there were good spots for jackstands.

p.s.
as always, thanks for the info guys. :-)

p.p.s
imolas4.....in one of your posts you mentioned that you were doing a day trip to NYC. Are you a fellow East-coaster? I'm in Jersey.

later!

Yes... I travel between the So. NJ/Philly area and the Boston suburbs.

The secondary air injection system pumps air into the exhaust to make sure the car meets emission standards. If the valve or the air pump go bad that can cause the incorrect airflow code you mentioned.

Gotta admit, I've heard a lot about the VAG-COM, but is it really worth spending my money on if I just end up taking my car to a shop to take care of at the end of the day?

If you are always going to rely on the tech to do the work, don't care about the diagnosis, and aren't interested in doing your own DX or electronic mods, then no, you don't need the VAG-COM. But most of us like having the "truth" up front when DX'ing our cars and we also have a penchant for doing the minor electical mods that the VAG-COM allows.

Yeah, I know will end up getting it anyway because I hate not knowing the details, and it certainly would help keep the shop honest. I was just hoping you guys would say something bad about it so could eliminate it from my list of toys I wanna buy. I've said it once and I'll say it again: Damn you and your logic!

Sorry!
I've never heard of any downside or criticism of the VAG-COM except for maybe the cost, but even that is reasonable for what you get and the support that Ross Tech provides.

As you can probably tell, I haven't done much looking into the VAG just yet, so could you endulge me and tell me how much they run so I know how long I'm going to starve myself to come up with the dough?

You'll need to decide for yourself what level you want.
