Default Vibration in A4

In my 2003 Audi-A4, 3.0 Quattro, there is a low level drivetrain vibration that is most prominent between 50 and 80 mph. At times it gives the sensation similar to when you have the sunroof open too much.

I have taken it to the dealer and they tell me the car is operation to manufacturer specifications.

As this is my first Audi, I am pleased with the rest of the car but, the vibration is driving and I'm considering selling after only 8k miles.

Anyone else having this problem and what was done to fix it....thanks

Frosty the snowman,

I had the same problem with my Porche 944. I had the wheels balanced and the vibration stopped. However it could be something with the drivetrain also. Have you hit any large bumps lately?

i have had that problem before on my a4, it was coming from the back and it appeared that my back wheels were unbalanced. the vibration started at above 50 mph. i didnt have to balance it though. the night before i noticed that i was having fun in the snow in a big parking lot

snow got stuck on the inside of my rims and behind my spokes and thats what was unbalancing my wheels, after i removed that snow everything was fine. so just try to get ur car balanced and aligned cause the vibration could be a result of you going over some bump or a pothole

Thanks to all....unfortunately, I have already had the wheels rebalanced, have not hit any large bumps and have been back to the dealer 3 times. Now I'm so attuned to the vibration it has become constantly annoying.....

The vibration is coming from the drivetrain.

I had the same problem. It was the driveshaft, it was unbalanced.

I took my car into the dealer to have the clutch and brakes replaced ($1700). After I picked it up i got on the road and when i reached 45 mph a vibration occured. I took it back to the dealer that day and they said either the driveshaft was unbalanced or one of the yokes was improperly assembled. It turned out it was just the driveshaft.
