Just got an 04 A4 w/ 46500 miles...still under warranty. Wondering what exactly is covered, and what i can do to get the most out of the dealership before the warranty expires. Here are the problems I am having:

-Rear driver window goes down randomlly, doesnt come back up all the time, feels like it is off track...did some searching here and think it may be the window regulator. Same with front passenger window.

-Warning light is on for HID lights...auto leveling feature not working. I dont have a manual, but the dealership told me over the phone this was the problem.

-Scratches on window trim. (Black shiny metal/plastic around window) I want to paint this but have no idea how or what to use...an suggestions?

Was told by dealer that they would fix the HIDs for $105.00, and that charge is for labor...why am I paying if it is still under warranty? Also, the windows should be covered as well I would think. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

the HIDs might be considered a "wear and tear" item in which case they'll charge you to replace it. The rear window should be covered , of course they'd be the ones to tell you. it might be an electrical problem of some sorts.

 

is there any way i can take it in for a general checkup just to see whats wrong and fix whatever is under warranty before i get to 50k miles?

also, anyone ever paint the black window trim? need suggestions for that

 

If the bulb went out it is wear and tear. If the adjuster goes out, that is not W and T and they should cover.

 

Id say good luck on that one. Mines still under warrenty and they are being a pain in the *** about replacing the front wheel bearing which is going bad. They seemed to think that the rear shock was causing the noise. I'm just going to wait it out till it gets really loud so they'll quit dicking me around. I waste my entire day off each time...

 

got an appointment for thursday...supposedly both windows and the HID auto leveling features are covered so I should be good. More importantly...

-window trim is scratched badly...black glossy finish that I want to paint but looking to see if anyone has done it with decent results.

-scuffs/scratches on black leather glovebox...anyone use a leather cleaner or something that is good?
