TBA is for drive by wire only. You should have a cable.

The transmission control unit is under the passenger side carpet.

If you are lucky it will work if it dried out.

Just an update....

I got the carpet pulled up today... the tranny ecu case was filled with water :( No standing water under the case, but obviously there had been at one time to get that much into it.

There was about an inch of water in the rear passenger foot pan that I have drained. The wiring harness was mostly submerged going along there. With the current weather its going to be a while before things are completely dry but I guess I feel better at least about getting the box out into the open air.

I'm not sure whether I should risk firing it up once the ecu is dried out or if I should take it to a professional first. I guess i'll have a bit of time to think about that yet...

did you get the water out of there?

I got the standing water out, and emptied the water out of the tranny ecu box. The carpet is still relatively saturated and its still raining.... so the car itself will still be wet for some time.

I have the ecu on my desk inside right now. Most of the water is out of it now i.e. anything that could bead up and run to a corner, but there is no way to really know how much moisture is left inside of it. Kind of hard to get air flowing through a mostly sealed unit...

It should be able to be opened, as they replace the chips inside for upgrades.

I'd start calling around for replacements.

Try dads auto or Shoksan. They are two auto salvagers that specialize in Audis. See if you can get some quotes.
