Default Weird Battery Light Issue

Hello everyone, still kinda new to the forums and the whole Audi world but I was hoping that someone could help me on this very strange issue I am having. I own a 99.5 A4 1.8T and just recently my battery light has been intermittently coming on. The weird thing is that it only does it when I get to around 4-5K RPMs and I am in the higher gears. This is how it started but tonight when I was driving I noticed that it started to do it in the lower gears as well and lesser RPMs and now it is constantly on. Before this was happening I noticed my voltmeter read approximately 14V but now that my light is on it has dropped to about 11.5V - 12.5V My car still seems like it is driving fine, I checked under the hood to see if any belts looked worn or torn and everything seemed fine. If anyone could give me some help it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the help, I got my battery tested today and I'm pretty sure it is my alternator that is bad. The voltage reading was only 12.4V when I had ignition off and it stayed that way when I started the car as well. So it seems that my alternator is not giving out any voltage to the battery. Thanks again everybody

well just because the battery tested ok and u think the alternator is bad doesn't mean the alternatoris rly bad. a battery test only tells u that ur battery is either good or bad. in ur case ur battery is good but u may have a bad connection instead of a bad alternator. since u have a 1.8 model, the alternator is right on top so i would take it out and have it check at like autozone or advance cuz they do it for free. i mean u wouldn't wanna pay like $200 for an alternator and still have the problem existing right?

I had a similar problem with my 99 2.8 and the battery tested okay, but the light occasionally came on and the voltage would act up. It wound up intermittenly leaving me stranded and going bad like a two months later. It began holding less and less of a charge and wouldn't keep it unless I ran the car for a while (like at least 30 min.). Have you let the car sit for a while (like a week without moving)? Is it the orginal battery? Based on my experience the alternator doesn't usually go bad on these Audi's especially before the first battery was ever changed, but I'm no pro.
