K, so i just replaced all my spark plugs (2001 audi a4 1.8t 5v 4cyl b5)
and i saw this weird part that looks pretty worn(RED CIRCLE), i was wondering if anyone knew what it was?? and if you see anything else i need to change let me know.

 

its a check valve, they all tend to look like, they are like 12 bucks at the dealer..

Looks like its in pretty bad shape.. It might still be working, but if it were me id replace it. (if it ticks while the engine is running, it is doing its job.)

anyways i dont think i have that on my car because when i was installing the testpipe i took the coldair intake out and there was no valvles on the house that connects to the metal part, it just went in the hose and tighten with phillips driver. is it a must need what is the purpose? i have a 2001 a4
