what is this??
I was wondering if someone can tell me what is that part marked in red? It sits right on top of my air filter, and today i noticed a clicking noise from it. I have a 99.5 2.8q... Any help will be much appreciated, also is it something important and needs urgent attention?
Thanks
Thanks
When it clicks louder do you ever notice that your fuel tank is usually full? It works overtime a lot more when you guessed it topping off your tank, don't do that. Eventually it WILL click louder and eventually fail, but if it hasn't failed yet no reason to replace it.
No, just sometimes it does it out of the blue. I did just fill up today but I never top it off, in any of my vehicles. At first it sounded like it was coming from the rear of the pass. side valve cover but I tracked it to that valve.
I believe it cycles the vapors of gas from your gas tank into the charcoal canister back into the intake to be burned in the engine so your not venting it into the atmosphere. Don't worry i bet half of the 30 some odd thousand members on here don't know what it does.
thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated. Since you guys are already helping out, one last question. When i turn my AC on, the fan in front on the engine starts to get really loud. Is this normal? i noticed the same thing in my friends A6...can anything be done to make it less noisy?
Thanks
