Plenty! The subject of warranty is a complex issue, but much of the concern is fueled by paranoia.
If you want to keep it very safe, then practically anything cosmetic (interior and exterior) won't affect the warranty. Replacing the DV with the OE 710N, upgrading the tires and wheels within OE specs, and tinting the windows won't do harm.

 

Yeah, like Imola said, pretty much you just have to stay away from the drivetrain and any electronics that will reconfigure the car's setup (ie. chips). Some chips claim to have a stock setting so that the dealer can't find any changes, but you still run a risk of them doing something the chip manufacturer hadn't thought about. So pretty much anything that is going to make your car significantly faster is no good. You may want to ask the dealer to double check, but you should be able to get away with exhaust too.

 

You can also buy and extra ECU, chip it and swap it back out with the stock ECU when you take it in for service. That'll run you some coin, but it's one way that the dealer really can't tell that you've chipped it. How much more of your warranty do you have?

 

So there isn't anyway that the dealer will know the chip is changed back and forth?

Does the ECU log any data in it with dates or something like that.

I am paranoid about warranty issues. I had a modified 99 mustang GT before buying my 02 A4 1.8T and I had a lot of problems with the dealers.

Although I love the Audi it feels (I guess it is) alot slower (makes up with the quality and looks ) and I feel I won't be able to keep the modification bug under control for too long.

1)I would also have a question about buying an ECU, Would any B6 1.8T ECU work or do I have to look for something specific.

2)I checked EBAY but I couldn't find any for B6 any idea where to get it from.

You have to get the correct ECU for your car and model. If you want to try to buy one second hand, open up your ECU cover and get the code number.

 

It is much more difficult to void a warranty than most people think. In order to refuse a warranty repair, the dealer has to prove that the disputed modification was the cause of the problem. Very hard to do and most dealers won't want to go through the hassle. Also, dealers get paid by Audi to do warranty repairs and most won't want to lose the income or a potential return customer. Don't sweat it so much.
