What to choose..
Hey, just a quick question.. I am going to upgrade the turbo on my 2002 Audi a4 quattro auto and I just want to know what size I should go with.. Im not lookin to do anything too crazy but to just be in the 13's.. I have heard Gt28rs is a good one from some people but heard it is bad from others. What do you think I should do? Thank you.
depends on spending limit and preference. if u want more reliability with decent power. go k04. if you want more power go with either gt28rs or gt2871r. if you want some insane power go with gt3071r. just search the forums for gt28rs or gt2871r and u'll get a lot of threads with info on each. this post was one of the most informative that i've come across.

okay so I did some research and I found that GT3071R with right supporting mods (FMIC, fuel, programming) will produce 420WHP and 1/4 11.97 with 121MPH. here is the dyno chart LINK
The same car (same mods) but with swapped GT28RS produced 295 Wheel HP, 328 Wheel Torque 12.4 @ 110 MPH here is the dyno chart
And here I foudl the compression between all 3 turbos, on the same car LINK
So to summarize GT28RS will spool faster than other 2 turbos, and at 4k RMPS produce around 60WHP/100WTQ more than GT3071R and 40WHP/50WTQ more than GT2871R. At around 4700RPMS all turbos will produce the same power, after that GT3071R really shines...
If you ask me that’s thought decision that I will have to make. Less lag/les power (GT28RS) or more lag/more power (GT3071R)
or something in between (GT2871R)

Many experts say that anything close to 300tq is way pushing the limits of the tip tranny without a level10 tranny valve body upgrade. I wouldnt trust anything more than a k04 with basic programing with the tip tranny, even with a tip chip.
lol ya i dont think an auto trans can even handle the aggressive files for k04. 300tq is about the max w/out a lvl10 tranny. if ur gona want to be seriously modding the car ditch it and get a manual
