Default what to do

ok..im in NY if that changes anythning emission wise....i just bought a flowmaster muffler...2.5 in and dual 2.25 out...i want to take it to a shop this weekend to have it installed. what i want is.....new 2.5" pipe run from the end of the DP to the resonator. then keep the stock res where it is.....run more 2.5 pipe to the muffler, which would go where the stock muffler is now..then exit pipes. The guy at the shop said this wouldnt be good because im leaving on the stock res. So should i do it anyway...or should i take out the resonator...put the muffler there and run 2.5 pipe to the muffler and then dual 2.25 to the back of the car (ps..wont that be really freaking loud?)...??? thanks

I'd leave the resonator in place for now. It is very low restriction and will quiet things down a lot compared to a straight pipe to the muffler.
Let us know what you decide what the total cost is, and how it sounds.

The exhaust I had on the car when i bought it basically had what the exhaust guy is suggesting. It sounds awesome at idle but you hit between 3-4k RPMs and it drones like a mother. Seriously, you'd get a headache if you went over 80-85 for more than 20 minutes or so.
