I hate when I accidentally refresh or something and my post gets erased. Are those new wheels 17's still or are they 18's? They look great.

My friend has Focal components in his Del Sol, the highs are wayyy too sharp for me, I think he has the titanium dome tweeters. The CDT's I got are borderline too harsh for me, but I think I'll get used to it. They're not nearly as bad as the Focals I heard.

Have you looked into Elemental Designs' stuff? I don't have anything like JL to compare it to, but my 13Ov.2 sounds wayyyyyyyy better than anything I've heard around here. (Everybody has Audiobahn, MTX, rockford, or coustic though...)

You may want to look into their 11Ov.2, you can put it into a .5cuF sealed inclosure, it looks like that'd be MUCH smaller than the box you have going now.

I'm working on hanging my amps from my rear deck. I have the hardware to do it, I just need to figure out a way to cut down on the rattling noise before I put it in again.

edit-

Where they're going to be mounted-

Don't mind the sloppyness of the wiring, or the mess, or the box and piece of wood that the amps are mounted to in serious need of carpetting. Just got all the wiring in today.

Why did you lose quality by adding a CD changer? That seems odd...

Yeah, right now I have the big HO box from JL which houses my 10W7. The setup weighs 99 pounds, plus the amps... so I've got to be pushing close to 150 pounds.
It's gross.
I have an alpine 12 disc changer in the compartment that I want to relocate the sub to... but I want to get rid of the changer and make the switch to phatnoise. I figure OEM deck + audiocontrol + JL amps + phatnoise = perfect sound & perfect look.

Here is what I have now... compared to what I want to have by the end of the summer. I'd hang my amps from the 'roof' of the trunk, though. Not the trunk lid... but underneath the rear shelf. My amps are mounted to the back of the HO box.

Haha, love the eD sub in that second picture. I really like the way that person mounted their amp... I may ditch my idea and go with that. It looks a lot more secure than the way I was planning on doing it.

The new wheels are 18x9.5 rear 18x8.5 front, thanks!

And I when I saw your sub woofer I figured it was a typo... 13Ov2 (the 'O' threw me off)... haha I've been out of it for over a year! Is that the name of the slim woofers I was talking about?
I think I want to get another high end 10... but one that can be used in a small enclosure. The W7 has certainly spoiled me.
I've never heard of Elemental Designs... I'll likely stay a JL fanboy for as long as I care about stereos. :P

And yes... Focal tweeters. I have the TN45's sitting in my sock drawer, they are Ti domed I believe. The TN52's are supposedly MUCH better... the 45's felt like pins perforating my ear drum. I couldn't handle them!

If you like soft tweeters, that are capable of producing real life sounding highs... go yank some Bose out of a wrecked car at a salvage yard. They'll probably charge you 5 bucks for them, and they are better than anything I've had. JL XR's are really nice, and I usually recommend them as the best bang for the buck component set out there. Nice highs outta them!

im not quite sure why that happend. the cd changer is working as a u-link or b-link (?) cable, anywayit works through rca cables from the sony head unit instead of the RF antenna cd changers which you do loose quality on.
i could have my volume upto about 15 (casual volume, not too loud, not too soft)with a cd in the head unit but with the same cd in the cd changer there is a volume and bass decrease, 15 sounds more like 10, so casual now is like 19. i just ajusted the amp suite.

it'll look nice with your sub on the left instead of taking up all the boot.
and i thought my subwoofer was heavy lol

Nah the 13Ov.2 is Elemental Design's midrange 12" sub. 600w rms in a 1cuF sealed box. The company is pretty cool, they have a 5 year warranty, and they have live online tech support most hours.

I really want to hear JL's stuff, everybody always says how great it is, but nobody around here buys it.

After as much work as it took to get my CDT's in today (I have to shave down the brackets I made tomorrow, so it's not over yet [&:]), I don't think I will ever replace them for as long as I own this car.

Ahhh my changer is done through alpine's Ai-Net (which I think Sony can use, as well... maybe?). It'll be going though when I implement my plan.
My beloved CDA-7998 will go... as will the 12 disc. The rest should stay, though. God... all this talk... I spent SO much money on my stereo. I've even got 3 pairs of Street Wires ZN6 RCA's. [:@]

ORIGINAL: A4Tuner.

haha, seriously! My sub is 25 pounds, the box is probably about 20, I was complaning about how heavy it was a couple days ago... I can't imaging having that much weight back there.

Yeah putting 5.25" door speakers in was a PITA. I had my stereo guy do it... he kicks ***. Basically whichever screws lined up in the holes, and then a whole lot of dynamat. They are basically held in with dynamat... It's good in so many ways!

I made those wooden brackets for them, but that top section is too tall, it keeps me from being able to put the door panels on. Now I need to take everything apart and trim off that piece.
