I have looked at other forums and i cant get a straight answer. I have a 1999 audi a4 2.8 quattro and i live in so cal (sunning and hot all the time) so what grade oil should i use? I would like to stick with Mobil 1. Also should i change my oil filter or just replace the one in there with another one from the dealer?

 

man if u have already been runin mobil 1 i would just keep on runin it . it is right up there with all other sythetic oils. ive ran it in all on of my vehicles over the years u should chacge filter every time u change oil.

 

I used it in my old car. This will be the first oil change for this one. What should i use like 0w-40 for what? What type of oil filter would u use?

 

Only M1 oil approved by Audi is the 0W-40.

I would stick with oem Mann or Mayle.

 

I ended up using M1 10w-30 b/c the guy at auto zone said its better for higher mileage. Then, driving 2nite i smelt something like a burning, the oil temp was fine so i kept driving and when i got home it just smelt like a hot engine. Should i be worried?

 

Sounds like he spilled some oil on the engine. Just look around for oil or leaks.

 

Yeah drive it 100 miles or so, and see if it still smells.
