hello everyone, i am new, a problem occured last night while i was driving my car. first some specs on my car, i have a 1997 A4 1.8TQ automatic. it is chipped with APR 91 Program (done about a week ago) and a new diverter valve. The rest of the car is stock. now to my problem, i was driving my car going about 60 last night then all of a sudden a loud pop came from the engine bay, from this point on the car would only idle, and when it is at an idle it is very rough, flutters between 300rpm's to 1100. could you guys help me out on this one?

no, this leads me to believe it has to do with a vaccume hose popping off, what do you think

 

if a hose burst or popped off of the vacuum system would i still be able to drive the car?

if it is a vacuum tube will the car still go

 

if a hose comes off the turbo or you have a huge boost leak will the car still be able to drive?

 

I think so but you will make very little boost and run like crap.

 

have you check any of your hoses? start with the most obvious the inlet pipe to the turbo from the airbox.

 

thanks guys, I had a chance to look under the car to check all the hoses. what i found was my diverter valve was off. the whole thing was sitting on the skid plate, when i took the skid plate off their it was. i am going to give the place that installed the valve a call. so problem is fixed now, i re-installed the valve and it is working perfect. thank you guys for the input and i am glad it was not something serious.
