Ok been looking for an audi to buy. just seenig what you guys think of this audi. What are the differences between the 00 and the 01 a4 1.8t other than the HP? I was wanting the newer basically because its newer and more HP. What other differences would there be and how hard is it to get the older up to par with the newer a4s. heres a link to the car im lookin at. let me know what you think bout it.

I'd say go for it, it has all the amenities, manual, quattro, 1.8t engine.

The only thing with the 01 is its DBW or drive by wire, which means the throttle is controlled electronically rather than mechanically by a cable.

The only downside to this is if you plan on doing a big turbo other than a k04, you may run in to some tuning issues because of this.

Otherwise, it ain't no thing! Looks like a nice car, offer them 7500 and go from there, try to get it for 8k or so.

One other thing, if t-belt has not been done, its gonna need it right away, so you should work that $800 job into the price as well, if it was never done.

 

you defintaly want to make sure the timing belt was changed we need to switch them at about 90k but doing it earlier is always good. Other than thet the b5 motor holds up very well to mods and I personally like the setup in the center console in the 2000 better as well. I know the newer ones have more hp and I don't know how much of a difference it is going to make, but mine has the lowest hp and I love it, so I am pretty certain you are gonna love anything you get

 

I actually have the same exact car except mine is auto tiptronic and it has the sports package but other than that same color same interior everything. I just flashed mine and it is pretty quick. I think the price is good. I paid 10,500 for mine with 76000 miles and she is running like champ. Good luck

 

well not for nothing but i live on LI NY and i bought my audi around 3 months ago, `99 a4 5spd for $3000 lol soooo i ******* hit the jack pot =] doesnt really help you but i like to tell ppl that one =P
