whats the best way of installing nav?

Default whats the best way of installing nav?

okay i have the concert radio that is 1 din. i want to install the pioneer avic-d3. what is the best way to do this. cut my trim to size and re-locate the climate controls or buy a faceplate that has a double din slot ? Please i been wanting to do this for a long time so if you guys have every played around with this or have any site that would help me custom installing a double din navigator i woud greatly appreciate it.

it will take some work if you want this to happen. you should have really bought a single din unit but its too late now. whats your car b5, b6, b7?

b5...i dont want a single din unit...for osme reason i think it makes the car look ugly.

hmmm b5 eh, well i hope your patient and have the tools it will take some time if you want it to look good. I think the best way would be to move the climate controls down and get rid of the pop-out ash tray (if you smoke now would be the time to quit :-P hehe) get some measurements from the bottom of the trim to the shifter cover (get an idea of where the controls will sit) so you have an idea of how much room you have to work with. Make up some mounting brackets or whatever you have to do to keep the controls secure, make up some matching trim around it then use the 2 empty dins above for your nav...

note: if you do it this way you won't be able to lift up the shifter cover anymore unless you take it all apart so hopefully you won't have any problems with the shifter. I also looked in my car and it looks pretty tight so the climate controls will probably have to site right down against the shifter cover to have enough room up top.

many people have done this... checkout www.navplus.us and get the required housing brackets and itll be a breeze.
