i dont get it. Whats the difference between these stupid hid xenons that you can pick up for $30 and the hid xenons thats a $1000 option on my window sticker (2001)... What exactly does this ballast thing do? Are they brighter? It pisses me off when people say they have HID's and just spent 30 bucks and picked them up at checked when I know its the fake stuff that just shines blue lol.

Lemme know whats up so I can explain to the next punk honda kid that says we have the same lights.

tell him that if he tries to change yours and touches the ballast he will shock himself to death and then be like can yours do that? it is an anti-theift device. the bulbs they are getting arent the real xenon gas i believe. it is the halogen gas. you need the ballast to turn on the hid xenon lights.

The $30 ones are xenon filled halogen bulbs. They work just like any other halogen bulb, with a filament. The HID xenons are gas discharge lamps; they dont have a filament and need a ballast to produce the correct voltage to the lamp and an ignitor to get the lamp lit when turned on.

HIDs are a lot brighter, use less power and last longer than halogens (including "xenon" halogens). Theyre more expensive too.

(P.S. Before the grammar ***** go nuts over my lack of apostrophes, for some reason Firefox brings up the search bar when I hit the apostrophe)...

The HID option in 2001 was $440 for low beams only.
