wheel bearing replacement question
 
ok so im going to replace one of my rear wheel bearings and bought the kit that comes with a new axle bolt. can i reuse all the other hardware or is there anything critical that i must replace? thanks.

You can reuse everything. Even the bolt if you have too. Although i would recommend replacing it since you have it. Dont forget those bearings are press fit so youll either have to find a press or get the tools to remove them.

hi, how did you diagnose your wheel bearing problem? i have a 2001 s4 and there seems to be a whinning sound coming from one of the back tires, not really loud and bearly noticable. i have no shimmy at all. does this sound like a bearing issue? an a4 friend of mine said that was exactly how his bearing was discovered and went away when replaced. thanks.

Try swearving back and forth on a straight road. If its a bearing the noise should get louder when you sweave in one direction and quieter or gone when you swearve in the other direction.
