Very nice wheels. They currently have the same tire I use which are complete garbage (fm901's) they are very very loud. I would recommend going with a 235/45/17 tires like you were planning on. Depending on what suspension you pick you might get a little rubbing action. You could play it safe and go 225, but i'd take the risk and go 235's...the fenders will eventually roll themselves

Just noticed this thread. Nice wheels! The 'deep dish' look is one I'm gonna be after once the car is running right, and I have a bit more cash! I know what the chap means by 'old school'. Alloy shops nowadays tend to have great big shiny chrome blingy things!
I wanna get wheels along the same lines as yours, but want them like the ones on this A4

Rather sweet little wheels if you ask me!

Thanks for the compliments.

And Tom, thanks for the reply... my offset is what had me concerned, I was sure a 235/45/17 will work on normal wheels, but with the wierd offset, 28 rear and 32 front, or something to that effect, I was concerned...
I just posted a new thread regarding FK coilovers, I just emailed the guy... if he gets back to me today (i've had AWFUL luck with getting no replies from vortex sellers) then I'll possibly buy them tomorrow, provided I get some half decent feedback on the suspension thread. I dont NEED ultra-high performance suspension... so these FK's (provided they arent known to explode or something) will probably do me fine.

As for the FM901's, yes, I hate them with a passion... a passion that burns with the heat of a thousand suns. (that might be shakespear)
They are noisy as hell, soft as hell (my right rear is lumpy as sh*t)... and arent showing any stellar performance capabilities.

The tires I'm picking up tomorrow are THE BEST IN THE WORLD. Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP's. They are effin amazin'

Tension is growing with my parents... who are aware that I am broke, are aware I just bought wheels, and am buying 800 dollar tires tomorrow, and will certainly notice me wrenching in the garage while installing coilovers... THEN I wanna try and sneak exhaust on the car. I am actually borrowing money (on top of my school shizza) to do these mods... I couldnt wait any longer! SSSHHH ITS A SECRET.

EDIT: I don't plan on lowerng THAT much... maybe 3/4 in the rear, and 1.5 up front. My rear sits low right now, possibly a result of 150 - 200 lbs of stereo equipment in the trunk. [:@]

On a side note... my right rear corner is sitting lower than the left rear... and one of the rear wheels is sitting furhter towards the front of the wheel well than the other side is... Hmm. I am thinking the 4 wheel aligment after my coilovers will have been much needed.

As for the lowering, I am on stock sport... I'd like to drop it about 1", and go from there. The way I see it, my only option is coilovers, because I want to be able to raise it again, come time winter. But yes, I thought it would look much worse than it does...
Grooved Bilsteins. I love 'em and they were alot cheaper than coilovers. Plus, with Neuspeed sport springs it's driveable everyday. With the grooved shocks you can go as much as 1" ABOVE stock height or 2" below (more like an inch b/c you already have stock sport). I plan on raising mine for the winter.

More importantly ... those are really sweet wheels Headshok. I'm totally jealous!

haha thanks, I want coilovers though I'll be stoked to have my new tires, and REALLY stoked to have my coilovers... the car will be almost exactly how I want it, just a rear swaybar and exhaust, and I'm done.

Yea My parents originally said absolutly no mods, so I did all motor stuff, then let them drive it and they changed their minds.

I hear you on the broke thing, I been broke ever since i had this car, racking up the cc bills and paying them off during summer. but yea, you wheel stane looks very similar to mine just level with the outside of the fenders maybe a little wider, so with my 9 "wheels and 235's there is enough stretch on the sidewall of the tire to tuck into the rear fender. How wide are your wheels?

235/45 is gonna rub like a **** if you get COs, if they're 17x8 (and they look like they just might be....) I'm at 225/45 with about an eighth of an inch clearance under my front, uh, suspension arm. I think people run 235/40 with no problems, though.
I'd just like to say again that your wheels are beauty.

^^Yes I think you are right, I didnt think about the height, Now honestly I'm not sure what will rub with a 17" wheel and what wont rub. Forget my earlier advice, I'd look around for a similar set-up
