ok, i tried searching the web and the forums.
this is what i think.
2004+ was when the transmission was switched from the 5speed to the 6speed.
all previous years were only offered in a 5speed.
if this is true, should i really opt for a 6speed and pay the 5k difference in used car prices? or is an easy swap to do. i don't mind mechanical work. if its a straightforward swap, tranny in tranny out. i'd rather do that than spend that extra 5k.

Along with that change, you get a different bumper and back end. Its called the "Ultra Sport Package" and yes your correct, 2004 + I believe.[8D]
