ok well i see that there are a lot of DIYers and I myself would really like to be able to do my own work on the car too. However I am not a mechanic and do not have experience in modifying cars. Where do all of you learn how to do these things and how do you bring yourself to try it on your own car if you haven't done it before (i'd be afraid of ******* something up)

Well, start with small things, and work your way up to bigger things.

There is so much knowledge in the forum that you can search, and so many people on here that have done whatever you are going to do, that you can pretty much ask ahead of time, so that you 'll know what tools you need, what to watch out for, and what the correct procedure is.

Also, get a haynes or Bently manual for your car, they have step-by-step instructions with pictures to guide you along repairing anything.

Most of us just learn by doing it or trying to do it. Take for instance the first time I waxed a vagina, sure she screamed and called me dirty names but the outcome was well worth the it plus the next time wasn't half as bad and soon I had no fear

I was like you before (let's say 2 years ago). I researched about 6 month before go to BT setup. I had no idea. I was lucky because I had some people around me knows what's going on then I start to do things... ones you get the point then you do not afraid to try different things. Believe me it's nothing to afraid of.

The key is, at least for me, lots of reasearch before start to do something. It's like 90% research, 10% do.
