Who do u think will win??
I had a 1998 S70 T5 and it's bone stock, published 0-60 times were between 6.2 and 6.6 depending on source. Not sure about the Z28 because I don't have a mullet but it was probably slightly faster.
Now, if you want to talk handling, the S70 T5 was a pig.

It's kinda' sad to hear of the 1.8Ts lack of acceleration. I test drove a 2006 A4Q 2.0T 6spd manual and was extremely impressed with the available power throughout the RPM range. Am I to understand that the 1.8T discussed here, and the 2.0T I drove, is that much faster?... or am I over-judging the power of this test-driven 2.0T. I'm contemplating the purchase of an '06 A4Q 2.0T Tip with the believe that the Tip will be slightly slower than its' 6 spd manual twin. Is it then to say that the 2.0T Tip I'm contemplating would be "stepped on" constantly should I engage in an occasional stop light grandprix? Or it it that the 1.8T owner here is being enticed into an arena of unfair players?... Your comments please...Is the A4 2.0T a formidable enough player amongst similar vehicles?..
FourRings-
I recently bought a 2006 A4 2.0T 6M FWD and it has decent acceleration. The quattro and the tip will be slower.
By no means is this a drag racing car. My take is that it is a nice entry luxury sport sedan that has decent power, decent handling and exceptional styling inside and out. I also don't like driving a car that everyone else has and in Dallas, that is a 3 series or a G35. Both great cars but too commonplace for me.
You could go out and buy a new WRX and smoke most anything on the road for about $26K, but it has funky styling and a very cheap interior. It is all about what you want out of your car. You can mod an A4 and get much better performance than what is available stock, but if you want performance over style, there are other choices out there.

the 2.0's have 50 more hp stock and probably have a better power curve, you can get them easy over 250 with chip and more with exhuast, ive heard them capable of liek 600 with a bigger turbo, not surte if it was true tho
isawoj, etal.
Thank you for your input. My no means would I buy an Audi to perform my drag racing duties. I am now 50+ years of age and I too, see the Audi as a reachably priced, well-balanced (performance, luxury, handling, safety, & amenities) vehicle. My days of drag racing occured in the late '60 - early '70 when Detroit musclecars ruled. Those days are past and I am tired of the same, plain, repackaged GM vehicle(s) I own or have owned. I work in the automotive field, understand (respect) German engineering and have narrowed by upcoming auto purchase to the Audi A4. WRXs & Mitsi EVOs are wicked fast, but there's nothing more I'd like my sweetheart to rub her dainty little nylons across that an Audi leather seat hide....
I would also consider some horsepower mods if they were reasonable & dependable.
Thanks again to all.
