Who knows there ***T???
Just wanted to know what exactly does a chip do in technical terms. What it plays around with to make the car run 15, 16, 17psi on stock everything( pretty much) and alsomake it run good. any links would be helpful. done search but still found nothing in depth. Just ppl saying this is bad and that is good.

Back to the topic at hand, a chip makes the timing and fueling more aggressive. Since our cars have an electronic turbo controller built in, chip tuners use it to ensure the turbo doesn't overboost.
Stock tuning it meant to make the motor components lastand make it so you don't notice a turbo surge.

The computer puts a programmed amount of fuel in at a specific rpm, it also adjusts the timing at specific rpms. It can make minor adjustments to these set parameters with the maf and o2 sensors. If you just crank up the boost, the air fuel ratio will just pass the allowable parameters and go into a lean situation. The maf and 02 sensors won't be able to adjust for more than just a little more boost than stock.
